Mott earns home sweep over Henry Ford

FLINT - The Mott Community College baseball team took to from Henry Ford College at home on Monday, taking 3-of-4 from the Hawks over the last two days.

After HFC scored four in the top of the seventh to tie game one, the Bears scored the game winning run in the bottom of the frame for the walk-off 9-8 victory. Mott scored four in the fifth of game two to take control of the finale and held on for a 5-3 win. 

The sweep pushes Mott to 16-12 overall and 8-5 in the MCCAA.

Game One Highlights:

• Benjamin Korson went 3-for-3 with a double, and four RBIs. 

• Quinn Schultz homered for the Bears, finishing with two hits, two runs, and an RBI. 

• Ethan Wills added two hits, a run scored, and a walk. 

• William Cae got the start on the mound, tossing five innings, allowing four runs, one earned, on six hits, walking five and striking out four. 

• Cole Schmidt (4-0) got the win on the mound, pitching one inning, allowing two runs, one earned, walking one, and striking out one. 

Game Two Highlights:

• Gavin Balius was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a stolen base.

• Max Charlton added two RBIs and a run scored.

• Schultz finished with two hits, two stolen bases, and a run scored. 

• Michael Jockwig (3-1) started and earned the win, tossing six innings, allowing three runs, two earned, on six hits, and struck out eight. 

• Graham Sim got the save (1) pitching a scoreless seventh inning.

The Bears remain home to host Macomb Community College starting at 2 pm on Thursday.
