Bears top Titans 97-78 to open campaign
FLINT - The Mott Community College men's basketball team opened the 2024-25 season against Terra State Community College on Friday at the Ballenger Field House.
The Bears jumped out to an early lead, taking a 30 point lead at the break after 54.3 percent in the first 20 minutes. Mott cruised the rest of the way and took a 97-78 victory to open the 34th season under legendary head coach Steve Schmidt.

Newcomer Justin Mims led four Mott starters in double figures with 21 points on 9-of-13 shooting. He added seven rebounds.

Teon Armstrong, the lone returner for the Bears, added 17 points and eight assists.

Kevin Tiggs Jr. recorded a double-double in his debut with 17 points and 13 assists.

Kylen Clark was 4-for-4 from the field with 13 points, while Kimari Barfen added nine rebounds, five assists, and three blocks.

Keyonta Menifield came off the bench to record eight points, including a pair of triples.

The Bears shot 37-of-71 from the field, 8-of-23 from deep, and 15-of-24 at the line. Mott won the rebounding battle 50-33. Mott finished with 25 assists to 17 turnovers.
