Mott takes two on the road from Henry Ford

DEARBORN, Mich. - The Mott Community College softball team took a pair of games from Henry Ford College in an MCCAA Eastern Conference doubleheader on Tuesday in Dearborn, Mich. 

The Bears scored seven times in the sixth to run rule the Hawks 12-4 in the opener. Tied at 4-4 after four in the finale, Mott scored seven unanswered to take game two 11-4. The sweep moved the Bears to 12-5 overall and 5-1 in the MCCAA.

Game One Highlights:

• Keira McGarvie blasted two home runs and a double, finishing with three hits, four RBIs and two runs scored. 

• Heaven Helkowski was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and a stolen base. 

• Alexis Hemker added two hits, two RBIs, and one run. 

• Arika Hines and Carley Hoover each finished with two hits and two runs. 

• Hines (6-1) got the win in relief, tossing 4.2 innings, allowing one run on two hits, walking two and striking out five. 

Game Two Highlights: 

• Emma Benner and Hines both finished with two hits, including a home run, and a run scored. Hines had three RBIs, while Benner added two. 

• Maggie Boehm added two hits and a run. 

• Carley Hoover recorded two hits and a run scored. 

• Helkowski finished with a hit, two runs, a walk, and three stolen bases. 

• Hines (7-1) pitched a complete seven innings, allowing four runs on five hits, walking six and striking our seven.

The Bears return home to host Oakland Community College at 3 pm on Friday on at the Mott Softball Diamond.
