Bears drop two close contests to Monarchs

WARREN, Mich. - The Mott Community College baseball team dropped the first two of four games against Macomb Community College on Friday in Warren, Mich. 

The Bears rallied with three runs on the sixth to tie game one, but the Monarchs walked off in the bottom of the ninth with a run to take the opener 4-3. Heading to the bottom of the fourth, Mott held a 7-4 lead. Macomb took control with six in the fourth and held on for a 10-8 win. 

The losses dropped Mott to 8-13 overall and 3-4 in the MCCAA Eastern Conference. 

Game One Highlights:

• Ethan Willis provided two runs with a triple in the sixth and later scored. 

• Benjamin Korson added a triple, a walk, and a run.

• Luke Trotter finished with a hit and a run.

• Malaki Edwards added a hit and an RBI. 

• Mason Clark (0-2) took the loss in relief, allowing one run on four hits, walking one and striking out two. 

Game Two Highlights:

• Nathan McDonald hit a three-run home run in the fourth, finishing with two runs, two stolen bases, and a walk. 

• Ryan Metz opened the game with a home run. 

• Korson added a hit and two RBIs.

• Eagan Demers and Luke Dupuis each finished with a hit, two runs, and a walk. 

• Dillon Kielian (1-1) started and took the loss, tossing three innings, allowing eight runs, seven earned, on six hits, while walking four. 

Up Next:

The final two games of the series scheduled for Saturday have been postponed to Sunday. The Bears welcome the Monarchs for two starting at 2 pm at the Ernie Myers Baseball Diamond.
