Bears take two from Monarchs

WEST BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. - The Mott Community College baseball team got back on track with a doubleheader sweep of Macomb Community College on Sunday at West Bloomfield High School. 

The Bears held on for a 3-2 win in the opener with Timothy Geottes driving in all the Mott runs. The Bears scored four in the fifth to pull away for a 9-4 win in the finale. The sweep moved Mott to 10-13 overall and 5-4 in the MCCAA Eastern Conference. 

Game One Highlights: 

• Geottes finished with two hits and three RBIs. 

• Benjamin Korson had one hit, two runs scored, two walks, and a stolen base. 

• Tobias Ransley and Ethan Wills each added a hit. 

• Michael Jockwig (3-2) pitched a complete game, tossing all seven innings. He allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits, walking two and striking out two. 

Game Two Highlights:

• Korson hit a home run, going 2-for-4 with four RBIs and a run scored. 

• Nathan McDonald had two hits, including a double, three runs scored, one walk, and a stolen base. 

• Ransley added a double and two RBIs. 

• Luke Trotter and Bryce Neitzel each recorded a hit and an RBI. 

• Carson Haddad (2-0) got the win, tossing 4.2 innings. He allowed one run on four hits, walking one and striking out four.

The Bears step outside of the MCCAA Eastern Conference to take on Delta College in a doubleheader at 2 pm on Tuesday in University Center, Mich.
