DETROIT - The Mott Community College baseball team earned a sweep of the final two games against Henry Ford College at the former site of Tiger Stadium on Saturday at the Corner Ballpark in Detroit's historic Corktown.
The Bears squandered a strong pitching performance in the opener from Michael Jockwig, falling 2-1. Mott took control late in game two to split the series with a 6-1 win.
The series sweep moved Mott to 17-15 overall and 11-6 in the MCCAA Eastern Conference. The Bears are tied for second place in the MCCAA standing, once game back of Henry Ford with eight conference games remaining.
Game One Highlights:

Ryan Metz was the lone Bear with two hits.

Benjamin Korson, Ethan Wills, and Bryce Neitzel each recorded a hit. Neitzel had the lone Mott RBI.

Jockwig (4-3) pitched all six innings, allowing two runs, one earned on three hits, while walking one and striking out two.
Game Two Highlights:

Wills provided the power for the Bears, recording a home run. He finished with three hits, two RBIs, and two runs scored.

Nathan McDonald added two hits and a run scored.

Metz finished with two hits, while Neitzel added a double and one RBI.

Dillon Kielian (3-1) tossed six innings, allowing one run on five hits, walking one and striking out five.

Darion Amico (3) earned the save, tossing a perfect seventh, striking out one.
