Bears set to open home schedule on Tuesday

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - The Mott Community College softball team completed its string training trip to Florida last week and the Bears now prepare for the start of the 2024 Region 12 and MCCAA seasons on Tuesday.
In 14 games in the Sunshine State, Mott finished with a record of 8-6, including wins in three of its last four games.
The Bears scored 10 or moe runs in four games, batting .338 as a team, with 35 extra-base hits, including six home runs. Taryn Murphy led the Mott linelup with a .442 batting average, 19 hits, six double, one home rung, 18 runs scored, 13 RBIs, and four stolen bases. Heaven Withers comes home with a .421 batting average, 16 hits and 10 walks. Claire Ouellette has provided power in the middle of the lineup with a .405 batting average, a team-high three home runs and 13 RBIs. Emma Benner is batting .390 with six doubles and 10 RBIs.
On the mound, the Bears have been led this season by Maggie Boehm. The freshman has appeared in eight games so far, pitching 45 innings. She has allowed 18 earned runs on 42 hits, while stiking out 45 batters. Boehm is 4-1 overall with a save.
The Bears opent the 2024 home schedule with a doubleheader against Henry Ford College starting at 3 pm on Tuesday in Flint.
