WARREN, Mich. - The Mott Community College softball team continued the MCCAA season with a doubleheader against Macomb Community College on Friday in Warren, Mich.
The Bears held on for a 6-3 win in the opener before dropping their first MCCAA game of the season 12-8 in the finale. The split moves Mott to 13-7 overall and 5-1 in the MCCAA. The Bears and Monarchs were tied atop the Eastern Division following the doubleheader.
Game One Highlights:

The Bears scored twice in the second on a pair of solo home runs by Claire Ouellette and Khloe Williams.

Mott increased its lead to 5-0 in the third with an RBI double from Cassie Sylvester, followed by a two-run home run from Taryn Murphy.

The Monarchs crept back in the game with one run in each of the third, fourth, and fifth innings.

Ouellette provided an insurance run in the top of the seventh to help the Bears put the game away.

Sylvester, Murphy, and Ouellette each finished with two hits.

Maggie Boehm moved to 6-1 on the season with a complete game. She tossed all seven innings, allowing three runs, one earned, on seven hits, while walking four, and striking out seven.
Game Two Highlights:

Macomb jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings.

The Bears got right back in the game on a grand slam home run from Murphy in the top of the third.

After the Monarchs pushed their lead to 8-4, Murphy homered again in the fifth, followed by an RBI from Boehm and a two-run single from Hannah Bollinger, as the Bears tied the game at 8-8.

Macomb used a grand slam of its own in the sixth to pull away for the win.

Murphy led the Bears with two homers, five RBIs, two runs, and three hits.

Heaven Withers and Ouellette each finished with two hits.

Joey Newton took the loss on the mound, allowing six runs on seven hits, and striking out three.

The Bears take on St. Clair County Community College for a doubleheader at 3 pm on Tuesday at home.
