Bears score 26 in DH sweep of OCC

WATERFORD, Mich. - The Mott Community College softball team continued to roll with a doubleheader sweep of Oakland Community College on Thursday in Waterford, Mich. 

The Bears offense erupted in the fourth and fifth in game one to cruise to a 15-4 win in five innings. Mott completed the sweep with an 11-3 victory in six innings in the finale. The wins pushed Mott to 15-7 overall and 7-1 in the MCCAA Eastern. 

Game One Highlights:

• Cassie Sylvester finished with two hits, four RBIs, and a run scored.

• Emma Bener was 2-for-4 with a home run , three RBIs, and two runs scored. 

• Claire Ouellette hit her fifth home run of the season, finishing with three RBIs, and two runs scored. 

• Taryn Murphy added two hits, a double, two runs scored, and two RBIs.

• Maggie Boehm tossed four innings, allowing four runs, three earned, on seven hits, walking two, and striking out five in the win. She added a pair of hits, two RBIs, and a run scored at the plate. 

Game Two Highlights: 

• Heaven Withers went 3-for-5 with a home run, three runs scored, and two RBIs.

• Joey Newton was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored. 

• Amya Brown was 3-for-4 with a double and three runs scored.

• Sylvester added two hits, two RBIs, and a run scored. 

• Boehm got her second win of the day, tossing six innings, allowing three runs, one earned, on seven hits, walking one, and striking out four.

The Bears travel to Henry Ford College for a doubleheader starting at 1 PM on Saturday in Dearborn, Mich.
