Mott win streak ends with split at Schoolcraft

LIVONIA, Mich. - The Mott Community College softball team's win streak was stopped at seven games with a doubleheader split against Schoolcraft College on Sunday. 

The offense pushed a rally for the Bears in a 12-9 win in game one, but the Ocelots evened the doubleheader, taking the finale 12-4. The split moves Mott to 20-8 overall and 12-2 in the MCCAA.

Game One Highlights:

• Claire Ouellette provided the biggest blow of the game with a 3-run home run in the fifth to cut into a Schoolcraft lead. She finished with four RBIs. 

• Emma Benner added two hits, a double, two RBIs, and three runs scored.

• Khloe Williams finished with two hits and two RBIs, while Heaven Withers added two hits and two RBIs. 

• Joey Newton recorded a double and two RBIs. 

• Maggie Boehm got the win on the mound with 5.1 innings pitched, allowing four runs, three earned, on 11 hits, walking two and striking out three. 

Game Two Highlights: 

• Cassie Sylvester went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. 

• Withers added two hits, while Boehm finished with two hits, a double, and two RBIs. 

• Eva Opper was charged with the loss on the mound. Newton pitched 3.1 innings in relief, allowing four unearned runs. 

• The Ocelots took advantage of eight Mott errors to score 11 unearned runs. 

Up Next:

The Bears welcome Macomb Community College for a doubleheader starting at 3 pm on Tuesday in Flint. Mott is currently in first place in the MCCAA Eastern Division, 1.5 games ahead of Macomb.
