Mott in control of MCCAA Eastern after Sweep of Macomb

FLINT - The MCCAA leading Mott Community College softball team faced off with second-place Macomb Community College for a home doubleheader on Tuesday in Flint.

The Bears took control of the standings with a sweep of the Monarchs, taking game one 4-3 in nine innings, while holding off Macomb for a 6-3 win in the finale. The sweep moved Mott to 22-8 overall and 14-2 in the MCCAA, 3.5 games ahead of Macomb. 

Game One Highlights: 

• Cassie Sylvester hit a home run for the Bears, added a double, while recording three RBIs and a run scored. Her double in the ninth inning drove home the winning run to walk it off for Mott.

• Claire Oullette added a home run, her eighth of the season.

• Boehm pitched all 16 innings for Mott in the sweep starting with nine innings in game one. She allowed three runs, two earned, on 11 hits, walking three and striking out 15. 

Game Two Highlights:

• Heaven Withers went 3-for-4 with two runs scored.

• Taryn Murphy added two hits, including a double, and two RBIs. 

• Emma Benner finished with two hits and a double, while Breann Shively added two runs scored and a hit. 

• Boehm (14-1) was strong again, tossing her second complete game of the day. She pitched seven innings, allowing three runs, one earned, on seven hits, walking three and striking out five.

The Bears remain home to host Oakland Community College for a doubleheader starting at 3 pm on Friday in Flint.
