WATERFORD TWP., Mich. - The Mott Community College softball team exploded for 28 runs in a pair of wins over Oakland Community College on Friday.
After jumping out in front in game one, OCC scored eight runs in the fifth to move in front. Cassie Sylvester hit a two-run home run to tie the game in the seventh and Khloe Williams hit one over the fence in the eighth, as the Bears scored three in the eighth to take game one 13-10.
Mott wasted little time putting the offense together in game two, as Emma Benner hit a grand slam in the first and Claire Ouellette hit the first of her two home runs in the game, as the Bears scored 11 in the opening frame and cruised to a 15-2 win in five.
The sweep moved Mott to 24-8 overall and 16-2 in the MCCAA.
Game One Highlights:

Sylvester was 4-for-5 with a home run, four runs scored, two stolen bases, and four RBIs.

Williams was 2-for-2 with a home run.

Heaven Helkowski went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and a stolen base.

Benner finished with three hits and an RBI.

Ouellette added two hits and two RBIs.

Joey Newton came in to pitch in the fifth. She earned the win, tossing 3.1scoreless innings, allowing six hits and three walks.
Game Two Highlights:

Ouellette pushed her team-high home run total to 10 with two more, finishing with six RBIs and three runs scored.

Benner hit a grand slam in the first, finishing with four RBIs.

Helkowski was 3-for-3 with three runs, an RBI, and a walk.

Hannah Bollinger added two hits and a rin scored.

Eva Opper pitched all five innings, allowing two runs on four hits, walking two and striking out two.
