Boehm, Benner named MCCAA Pitcher/Player of the Week
FLINT, Mich. - The Mott Community College softball team closed the regular season last week, wrapping up the MCCAA Eastern Conference Championship.
The Bears were led by Maggie Boehm on the mound and Emma Benner at the plate, as the pair swept the latest MCCAA Eastern Conference Softball Pitcher/Player of the Week awards, it was announced Tuesday.
The Pitcher of the Week award is the second straight for Boehm. The Holly, Mich., native appeared in three games, pitching six innings and earning one win. She had a 1.17 ERA with seven strikeouts, allowing one run. Boehm is 21-3 this season with 166.2 innings pitched with 176 strikeouts and a 2.52 ERA.
Benner batted .750 in 12 at-bats with nine hits, including four home runs, and six runs scored. The Clio, Mich., is batting .413 with nine home runs, 55 RBIs, and 32 runs scored this season.
The Bears open play in the Region 12 Great Lakes B District Tournament against the winner of Cuyahoga Community College and Grand Rapids Community College at 4 pm on Thursday in Marysville.
