MARYSVILLE, Mich. - The Mott Community College softball team continued play at the 2024 NJCAA Division II Great Lakes District B Championship on Friday in Marysville, Mich.
The Bears were defeated by Lake Michigan College in the opening game of the day 12-1 in five innings, setting up an elimination game with Muskegon Community College. Mott (35-12) rallied from an early deficit to top the Jayhawks 7-4 and stay alive.
Highlights vs. Lake Michigan:

Khloe Williams recorded the lone extra-base hit for the Bears with a double. She added a run scored.

Heaven Helkowski finished with a hit, an RBI, and a walk.

Emma Benner and Taryn Murphy each recorded a hit.

Eva Opper pitched 2.2 innings of relief, allowing one unearned run on five hits.
Highlights vs. Muskegon:

Claire Ouellette finished 3-for-3 with three RBIs, and a run scored.

Murphy added two hits including a double, one RBI, a run, and a walk.

Hannah Bollinger hit a two-run double to give the Bears the lead in the fifth.

Maggie Boehm (24-4) pitched the complete game, allowing four runs, three earned, on 10 hits, striking out nine.

The Bears move on to the final day of the championship and will take on Lake Michigan in an elimination game for Mott at 11 am in Marysville. With a win by the Bears, there will be a winner-take-all final between the two teams at 2 pm.
