Boehm leads Mott All-MCCAA Honorees
FLINT - The Mott Community College softball team completed an outstanding season in 2024 and earned numerous MCCAA postseason awards, announced earlier this week.
Leading the way for Mott was pitcher Maggie Boehm was named the MCCAA Eastern Conference Player and Freshman of the Year. Boehm was dominant all season, closing with a record of 22-5 with four saves in 39 appearances for the Bears. She had a 2.63 ERA with 197 strikeouts in 186 innings pitched. At the plate, Boehm added 25 hits and 22 RBIs.
Three Bears joined Boehm on the All-MCCAA Team, including Claire Ouellette, who averaged .441 with 11 home runs, 38 runs, and 59 RBIs. Taryn Murphy closed the year with a .438 average, with nine home runs, 59 runs, and 49 RBIs, while Emma Benner added an average of .410 with 11 home runs, 35 runs scored, and 60 RBIs.
Head Coach Terry Warner was named the Eastern Conference Coach of the Year.
The MCCAA Eastern Conference Softball First Team included five Bears, with Heaven Helkowski joining Boehm, Ouellette, Murphy, and Benner. Helkoswki averaged .428 with 45 runs scored and 13 stolen bases.
Boehm, Benner, and Helkowski were all named to the Eastern Conference All-Freshman Team. Cassie Sylvester was named an Eastern Conference Honorable Mention.
The Bears closed the season with a record of 35-13 overall and 25-5 in the MCCAA, winning the regular season Eastern Conference title.
