Hines, McGarvie sweep MCCAA weekly honors
FLINT - The Mott Community College softball team swept the MCCAA weekly honors after a strong closing to the team's spring trip to Florida.
The Bears went 4-1 last week led by back-to-back MCCAA Eastern Conference Player of the Week Keira McGarvie at the plate and MCCAA Eastern Conference Pitcher of the Week Arika Hines on the mound.
McGarvie finished the week with seven hits, two doubles, 10 RBIs, four runs scored, and a steal. She was also perfect in the field in 10 total chances.
Hines posted a 0.75 ERA in 18.2 innings of work. The Montrose, Mich., native was 2-0 with a complete game, allowing just two runs on 12 hits, walking five and striking out 23.
The Bears return to action in the MCCAA Eastern Conference opening doubleheader against Macomb Community College at 3 pm on Friday in Warren, Mich.
