Hines sweeps MCCAA Pitcher/Player weekly honors
FLINT - The Mott Community College softball team is riding a seven-game win streak, including four wins last week. Freshman pitcher/infielder Arika Hines led the way, sweeping the conference weekly awards.
The Montrose, Mich., native was named the MCCAA Eastern Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week for the first time this season.
At the plate, Hines went 8-for-11 with two doubles, and a home run, with five RBIs, four walks, and two stolen bases. She had a .727 batting average and slugged 1.182 in four games.
Hines appeared in three games on the mound. She finished with a 2-0 record and a complete game, tossing 12.2 innings, allowing five runs on eight hits, walking nine and striking out 14 with a 2.76 ERA.
