Mott rolls with pair of 8-0 wins over Macomb

FLINT - The Mott Community College softball team continued to roll, sweeping two in dominant fashion against Macomb Community College on Friday in Flint. 

Reigning MCCAA Eastern Conference Pitcher/Player of the Week Arika Hines held Macomb to one hit and the Bears took game one 8-0 in five innings. Keira McGarvie led the offense in game two, as Maggie Boehm shutout the Monarchs for a second five-inning, 8-0 win. 

The sweep pushes the Mott win streak to nine, as the Bears moved to 18-5 overall and 11-1 in the MCCAA. Mott has a 16-inning shutout streak following the wins over Macomb. 

Game One Highlights:

• Carley Hoover went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. 

• McGarvie added two hits and two runs scored. 

• Josie Spencer finished with two hits, one run, and one RBI. 

• Heaven Helkowski recorded two hits, two runs, and two stolen bases, while Cassie Sylvester added three RBIs and one run. 

• Hines (9-1) tossed all five innings for a shutout. She allowed one hit, walked two and struck out seven. 

Game Two Highlights:

• McGarvie hit three doubles, adding three RBIs and a run scored. 

• Hines recorded two hits, including a double. She finished with one run, one RBI, and a stolen base. 

• Helkowski recorded one hit, three walks, two runs, and a stolen base. 

• Boehm (9-3) tossed five scoreless innings, allowing five hits, four walks and four strikeouts.
