Hines, McGarvie Take MCCAA Awards
FLINT - The Mott Community College softball team is riding a 13-game win streak and for the second straight week, the Bears swept the MCCAA Eastern Conference weekly honors.
Mott went 6-0 last week to improve to 20-5 overall and 13-1 in the MCCAA. Arika Hines was named the MCCAA Eastern Conference Pitcher of the Week for the second time in a row, while Keira McGarvie took the Player of the Week honor for the third time this season.
Hines appeared in three games on the mound, tossing 17 innings, allowing two runs on seven hits, while striking out 26 batters. She had three complete games including two shutouts.
McGarive went 17-for-24 at the plate with six doubles, eight RBIs, seven runs, and a slugging percentage of .958.
The Bears return to action at home against Henry Ford College at 3 pm on Friday in Flint.
