Hines/Benner take weekly MCCAA awards

FLINT - The Mott Community College softball team continued its march to an MCCAA Eastern Conference title with four more wins last week. 

For the third time this season, the Bears swept the MCCAA Eastern Conference weekly awards. Arika Hines took her third Pitcher of the Week honor, while Emma Benner was named the Player of the Week. 

Hines appeared in four games, finishing with two wins, a save, and three complete games. She tossed 23.2 innings, allowing six earned runs for a 1.77 ERA, with 23 strikeouts. 

Benner went 9-for-17 with two home runs, a double, eight RBIs, three runs, and a .941 slugging percentage. 

The Bears are 29-7 overall and 20-1 in the MCCAA Eastern Conference.
