McGarvie takes NJCAA National honor
FLINT - Kiera McGarvie has been named the NJCAA National DII Softball Player of the Week for the Bears after an outstanding week, helping Mott Community College clinch the MCCAA Eastern Conference title.
McGarvie was 11-for-15 for a .733 batting average. She had two home runs, two doubles, seven RBIs, and six stolen bases. The national award is the first for Mott this season. McGarvie was also named the MCCAA Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the fourth time this season.
In addition, Maggie Boehm earned MCCAA Eastern Conference Pitcher of the Week honors. She was 3-0 with three complete games and a shutout. Boehm tossed 21 innings, allowing two runs and striking out 23.
The Bears are 34-7 overall and 25-1 in the MCCAA. Mott returns to action against Oakland Community College at 3 pm on Friday in Flint.
