Bio

Coach David Bush is a native of Flint, Michigan.  He graduated from Flint Central High school in 1980, where he was an outstanding basketball player and track and field athlete. Coach Bush graduated from C.S. Mott Community College with an Associate Degree in Applied Science/Community Education. As a member and Captain of Mott’s Men’s Basketball team he was the Eastern Conference 2nd Leading Scorer averaging 21.7 points per game. He was selected to the 1st team All-Conference team, 1st team All-State team, 1st team All-Region and Honorable Mention All-American. He later graduated from Siena Heights University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Human Services with a Concentration in Psychology. He was captain his senior year, a 2 year All-District 23 performer, led his team in assists, rebounds and was the third leading scorer 15.0 points per game as a point guard.  He also competed with the Saints track team.

Coach Bush has coached in the Flint Community schools for over 23 years excelling in basketball, track and field and cross country. To his credit, he has coached a McDonalds All-American, 3 All-State Basketball players, 3 All-state Track and Field athletes and over 35 1st team All-City athletes. He is constantly connecting with college coaches on behalf of his players and others who needs guidance finding a college. His team accomplishments include: 2 Regional Basketball Championships, 6 boys and 4 girls District Championships and 7 boys City Championships.  Coach Bush loves working developmentally with youth and founded his signature basketball camp (Bush’s School of Thought Basketball School).  He also served as Director of Greg Kelser’s, Mateen Cleaves, and Morris Peterson’s basketball camps. 

Coach Bush has been an assistant coach at Mott College for 11 seasons and enjoys working in all aspects of the program. Scouting and recruiting the best players in the surrounding areas has help to keep the Lady Bears competitive over the past years.  During the time that Coach Bush have been at Mott, the program has produced numerous All-Conference, All-Region, and All-American Student/Athletes. Coach Bush thrives and takes pride in working developmentally with all of the players and especially the shooters.

David is married to his lovely wife of 31 years Dana and is the proud father of 3 beautiful daughters Corina, Darrian, and Danae.. He is a member and past officer of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., The  Mott Bruin Club, Mott College Alumni Board, a member of the Greater Flint Afro American Hall of Fame, Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan, and the Metro Detroit Basketball Coaches Association.  

Coach David Bush continues to be a leader and a vessel to help youth achieve their goals through academics and athletics in the Greater Flint Area.
