Mott Volleyball Opens 2024 Season on Friday
FLINT - The Mott Community College 2024-25 athletics season gets started with the volleyball team heading to the All In Tournament this weekend in Rockford, Ill.
The Bears are coming off a successful 2023 season that saw the team finish 18-12 overall, 11-1 in the MCCAA, earning the Eastern Division regular season title. With several key players returning, Mott will be led by a new coach on the bench with the hiring of Eric Lazowski prior to the season.
Ruby Earl returns for her second season with the Bears after leading the team last year with 317 kills (3.27 k/s), adding 23 total blocks, 310 digs, and a team-high 46 services aces. She was named to the 2023 All-MCCAA Volleyball and NJCAA Region XII Division II All-Region Teams.
Other key returners include Montgomery Rotter, who finished 2023 with 233 kills and a team-high 345 digs, while Princess Savage added 194 kills and 45 total blocks. Brooklyn Wilcox played in 28 matches last season, recording 341 digs and 99 assists, while Tessa Szamiel added 121 digs and 15 service aces. Lillia Pihlstrom will add depth at the setter and Libero positions after appearing in 27 matches last season.
The 2024 recruiting class includes five new faces: Chloe Wright (Libero), Courtney Nye (OH/MID), Madelyn Wright (RS), Skylar Cramer (S), and Chloe Vanwinkle (OH).
The Bears open the season with two matches on Friday starting against Heartland Community College at 11 AM ET in Rockford, Ill.
