PORT HURON, Mich. - The Mott Community College volleyball team rallied to win the 2024 NJCAA Division II Great lakes District A Volleyball Championship on Saturday at the SC4 Fieldhouse. 

After dropping a five-set battle with the host Skippers on Friday, the Bears won three straight matches on the final day of the event including two straight over SC4 to claim the title. Mott moves on to the NJCAA DII National Championship with a record of 27-6 overall.

Game One vs. LMC: 

Game Two vs. SC4:

  • Earl led the offense with 16 kills, adding eight digs. 

  • Rotter finished with 12 kills and 16 digs for a double-double.

  • Vanwinkle added 10 kills and nine digs. 

  • Cramer recorded 48 assists and 16 digs. 

  • Tessa Szamiel finished with 13 digs and three service aces. 

  • Courtney Nye added eight kills, while Chloe Wright recorded 10 digs.

Game Three vs. LMC:

  • Vanwinkle had a season-high 29 kills and 21 digs. 

  • Earl added 15 kills, while Rotter finished with 11 kills and 16 digs.

  • Cramer recorded 58 assists, a season-high. 

  • Szamiel and Chloe Wright each had 10 digs, while Brooklynn Wilcox added seven. 

Game Four vs. SC4:

  • Wilcox recorded 11 service aces. 

  • Vanwinkle had 24 kills and 13 digs. 

  • Earl added 15 kills, while Rotter had 13 kills, 14 digs, and three block assists. 

  • Nye recorded six block assists.

  • Cramer finished with 50 assists,11 digs, and three block assists. 

  • Rotter added 13 kills and 14 digs. 

Game Five vs. SC4:

  • Rotter had a team-high 16 kills, adding 13 digs and two service aces. 

  • Vanwinkle finished with 14 kills and a team-high 15 digs. 

  • Earl added 10 kills, while Cramer had 39 assists and eight digs. 

  • Chloe Wright and Wilcox each had two service aces. 

Up Next:

The Bears move on to the NJCAA Division II Volleyball Championship at the Alliant Energy Powerhouse Arena in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, from November 20-23. The bracket reveal will take place on Wednesday.
