Ernie Myers Baseball Diamond
The Ernie Myers Baseball Diamond has served as the home venue for the Mott Varsity Baseball Program since 2004. This venue was the culmination of a collaborative effort between the City of Flint, the College, the Athletics Department, and the Bruin Club of Genesee County to renovate the existing recreational field into a vision that Ernie Myers had as one of the best natural grass baseball diamonds in the Michigan College Community Athletic Association (MCCAA).
On July 22, 2011, the field was dedicated to Ernie Myers. Ernie was a very accomplished Mott baseball coach. The teams he coached won nine Michigan Junior College Athletic Association Eastern Conference championships. The best finish by one of his teams was in 1971, when it finished third in the nation with a 38-12 record and won the National Junior College Athletic Association sportsmanship award. He also served two stints as Mott’s athletic director, holding the post from 1978-80 and again from 1993-98. Click here for a full biography of Ernie. Also in 2011, the Bruin Club purchased a scoreboard for the Ernie Myers Baseball Diamond with the title stenciled into the top of the board.
In 2019, the College continued its investment into the field by building a storage facility, pressbox, and concessions stand at the field.
In 2023, The Bruin Club continued their investment in the facilities by purchasing a state of the art speaker system.
The Ernie Myers Baseball Diamond not only serves as the home of the Mott baseball team, it also provides an exceptional resource to the community. It hosts a significant number of community events, is utilized by several local youth summer leagues, is a primary venue for the Greater Flint Baseball and Softball Association leagues, and has hosted several local high school league championships.
