Mott Community College Softball Diamond
The historic Kearsley Park had a recreational softball diamond for decades; however, it had become nearly unplayable. In 2019, the City of Flint and Mott Community College came to an agreement to establish the Mott Community College varsity softball diamond. The College, the Athletics Department, and the Bruin Club of Genesee County renovated the existing recreational field into one of the best natural grass softball diamonds in the Michigan College Community Athletic Association (MCCAA). With Gilkey Creek as a stunning hitter’s backdrop, the location was ideal to put down permanent roots, and no longer having to rent local facilities to host our competitions. The investment from the College and the Bruin Club allowed for the construction of permanent dugouts, storage areas, home and visitors bullpens, a concession stand, bathrooms, and an exceptional pressbox.
In 2023, The Bruin Club continued their investment in the facilities by purchasing a state of the art speaker system and repairing the driveway to the field.
The Mott Community College Varsity Softball Diamond not only serves as the home of the Mott softball team, it also provides an exceptional resource to the community. It hosts a significant number of community nonprofit softball teams, is utilized by several local youth summer leagues, and has hosted several local high school league championships.
